Hello my name is Kim Focht. I am one of the Foster Care Managers here at CHOICES, Inc. I began my journey with CHOICES in January 2009. I previously worked 10 years at a different private foster care agency as a case manager. I came to CHOICES because there was an opportunity for me to utilize my 10 years of foster care experience in a manager position. I have been blessed with this opportunity to share my knowledge as a social worker and to be a role model to the social workers here who are just beginning their journey.
I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1991. I received my social work license in 1994. I began my career as a child psychiatric social worker. This was a great experience that led me into the foster care arena. My 10 years as a case manager were challenging at times, but overall rewarding. The most significant part of our job is the people we work with, our co-workers, supervisors, foster parents, foster children, caseworkers and probation officers. They are what makes our job rewarding and worth coming back to every week. Foster parents are my heroes! They make such a difference in a child’s life that could never be measured.
I grew up and now reside in Miami County with my wonderful husband, Brian, my son, Cameron, my step-daughter, Addelie and step-son, Ashton. My husband also works in the child welfare system, which is how we first met! We stay busy with all of the sporting activities our children are involved in as well as spending time with our families who live nearby.
