“I am lighthouse rather than lifeboat. I do not rescue, but instead help others to find their way to shore, guiding them by example.”
Hello! My name is Ashley Lykins and I have been studying social work since 2014 and have been a licensed social worker since August of 2017. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Mount Vernon Nazarene University and received my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Wright State University. As a social worker, I have had experience with a variety of populations including older adults, youth, kids, and developmental disabilities and have spent the majority of my career in the mental health field as a therapist before my position as a therapist at CHOICES.
It has always been a passion and a calling for me to help others and help reach their goals, overcome difficulties, and reach their true potential. My approach in therapy typically includes cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma informed care, grief therapy, and motivational interviewing. I believe that each individual has the answers within themselves to get where they want to be and I am there to help them access those answers and give them the tools necessary to guide them in a positive direction. My goal is to create a safe, trustworthy rapport with my clients and families and incorporate relevant interventions that fit their individual needs to help them improve.
“The happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others”
