Hello my name is Ashleigh Ilg and I work as a Foster Care Case Worker at CHOICES, Inc. I started working at CHOICES, Inc. in June of 2008. Prior to working at CHOICES, Inc., I was busy attaining my Bachelors’ degree in Social Work at Wright State University and getting my Social Work License. Eventually, I plan on going back to school to get my Masters degree in Social Work.
I moved to the Dayton area in 2004 when I started college at Wright State. I was born in raised in the very small town of Delphos about an hour and a half north of Dayton. After living here for four years, I decided I wanted to stay in the area and work. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and I love to smile and laugh. Those who know me say I am the eternal optimist, I can always find a positive out of negative situations!
Over the past 6 months I have seen many benefits to working at CHOICES, Inc. The biggest one for me is seeing people come together for the well being of children. From coworker and foster parents, to county workers and therapist, all are working together to make a better life for a child. Here is a quote that I keep in mind when working with the youth that helps me remember why I do
what I do and how we can positively influence youth’s lives on different levels:
Sow a thought, reap an act
Sow an act, reap a habit
Sow a habit, reap character
Sow character, reap a destiny
