CHOICES, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that began operations in 1986. The organization provides foster care, independent living, and home-based services to youth and families in 13 counties in southwest Ohio. During fiscal year 2018, the organization served 692 youth.
Due to unprecedented growth, the organization is searching for a full-time Accounting Assistant. Hours are 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. The position is based in the Dayton, Ohio office with potential of 1-2 days per week in the Cincinnati, Ohio office after initial training period of approximately 6 months.
Primary duty will be managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the Independent Living and Bridges programs, which entails handling the expenses related to approximately 50 youth in scattered-site apartments, including rent, utilities, landlord relations, weekly grocery allowances, phone, etc.
Additional administrative/office/financial support for other programs may be required as needed.
This job requires a detail oriented person. This is not a data entry position. The applicant must be able to think through what he/she is doing, identify anomalies, and be willing and able to ask questions. The job will require professional interaction with youth, landlords, vendors, and CHOICES workers. The applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, jump from one task to another, and handle interruptions.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a must. Experience with Sage 50 (formerly Peachtree) is a plus.
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is desired. Related experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
